To all wine lovers, I learned that cooling your wine in a regular is bad for your wine, Red Wine is not suppose to be as cold as your refrigerator gets and White wine is suppose to be 45 degrees, so we got a Dual Zone Wine Cooler/ Refrigerator. They are so elegant looking and energy efficient, besides we got ours for a little over $ 250.00, check this site and get yourself one today.

Hey wine lovers, I just wanted to tell you about a recent discovery that I made when I was talking to a friend of mine about wine, he said that you shouldn't store your wine in your refrigerator, the tempature wrecks the wine and that he bought a Haier Wine Cooler for his Reds and Whites, they also need to be chilled at different tempatures and he can do that with his dual zone wine refrigerator.

Rcshirt: I enjoy a good Amarone, too. Amarone's can vary widely from being just weak and watery to overly bold and raisiney. I love the aroma and flavor of raisins a good Amarone imparts. Like no other wine. It gets that quality from the process of the grapes being dried before being pressed. Drying the grapes concentrates the sugars and flavors. And, if you dry them too much, you get raisins instead of grapes!! Thanks for the recommendation.

I'm a bit partial to Amarone, and this weekend, I tried 2004 Gaetano D'Aquino Amarone della Valpolicella Classico. I picked it up from Trader Joes, I was hesitant at first because of the price (it was very inexpensive), but it turned out to be great tasting wine!

RcShirt: What you enjoyed was a Rhone blend. Carignan (best way I can write to pronounce it is "karen yawn") and Grenache (gren ash) are two varieties which are widely planted in the Rhone region of France, as is Syrah. They now appear all over the world. Grenache is the predominant grape in Chateauneuf-du-Pape, but is also widely used as a blending grape to add sweetness and body to the wine. Carignan is a much bolder grape than Grenache, with deep color and high tannins and a distinct floral note to the nose. The Grenache and Syrah will soften the characteristics of the Carignan, making for a very nice blend.

Other Rhone Varieties: Viognier-Mourvedre-Roussane-Marsanne-Cinsault.

Can you shed some light on some of the grape varietals Carignon and Grenache? We tasted a French bottle last evening that was a blend of Carignon, syrah and grenache. It was an interesting combination and it was excellent. I neglected to write down the name of the wine.
